FAQ
So who will I be able to play as?
You play as Jill. That's it. There is no option to play as Chris, and the game is based upon Jills game anyway, so that means Rebecca will most probably not appear in it. To make another scenario in this game would just eat up my variables and my spare time. So, there you go. That's it. Enjoy Jill, she's much better to look at than Chris anyway, even in 16-bit format.
When will it be out to download?
I don't know when the full version will be complete, I'd estimate about 3 months from now. The demo should be available in about a week and a half, depending on how motivated I am. Good things come to those who wait, so...stop waiting.
Do you know that Capcom already made a game called Resident Evil?
Yes, yes I do... And I am fully aware that my game breaches a number of copyright laws. Thing is, I intend to make absolutely no money out of this game whatsoever. It's for fun, and is basically a tribute to the real game.
Resident Evil, Biohazard, and all associated trademarks are copyright Capcom 1996 - 2002.
I am in no way connected to these people.
I demand you buy the original, as it is one of the best games ever.
This bit is wrong! I hate your game!
Firstly, Mr. Bigshot, I probably am well aware that the fault you like to remind me of constantly, exists. Secondly, that's a statement not a question.
Thirdly, I am trying to make this as accurate as possible with the tools available. Sure I could just whip out 3D-Studio max and waste half my life making an 3GB+ game that no one would really want to play. I am using tools designed to make RPGs, in 16-bit format, with 256 colours available, it is mainly a personal challenge. So I am sorry if that bathroom clip shouldn't be horizontal, but it is, okay? and I'm not changing it just for you.
If you hate it this much, you try doing it.
Some of the bits in your rooms are out of place, Why?
Well to make it easier, I have made it so that most things are accessable from a front view. Examples of which are the shotgun mount, and the fireplace in the dining room. Another weird looking bit is the crusher room, which seems to morph into a small strip once the ceiling starts to come down. Sorry but this is the only way I could get it to work and I like it anyway, it does the job nicely. Also, some of the decor might be a bit 'off', but this is because working with 32x32 pixel tiles means it is hard to get detail in. I also use the same tile for different rooms, even though they are different in the game. But still, it works well I think.
Are there any known bugs you have in your game?
I'm sure there will be many, many bugs in my game. Though there are only two 'serious' ones. The first is that no weapons can be fired away from the enemies, you have to be adjacent to an enemy to shoot it, but this isn't too bad as the weapon you are shooting with is modified in the amount of damage it does, so it all balances out.
The second, and more worrying bug, is that when you access the menu during a fight, the enemies in the room appear back at their starting positions. This is a real pain in the ass as it means people can cheat by teleporting zombies accross the room ect. while making a run past them. As far as I know there is no way to fix this, I have tried, though I think any means of doing so would mean having to use alot of variables, which I need to conserve (each enemy is 1 variable, then it takes another to "activate" all the enemies in each room.)
Can I help you in any way?
Depends what on, this is basically a solo project
and I really want to do it by myself, like building a model ship or something, it wouldn't be much fun if I got some people to make the hull, some to make the cabins ect. You get the point. Though I could do with some help with the sounds. I now have all the sounds I need except Hunter noises, and we all love hunter noises.
But, send me anything you think might be useful to me and I might use it. Who knows. Thanks to all the nice folks who actually thought this question.
Any other games on the go?
I made a couple of RPGs, I also made a game called "kill the giant knight" in 3D-studio max.
I made a text RPG once, and I also tried to make a Baldurs Gate style isometric RPG. All these projects have been scrapped. I did have an unreal tournament map or two up on nalicity also.
Oh and I made a bouncy ball game too. That got boring fast though.
So basically this is it for future "Fully completed and publically available games" I have made.
